Frequently asked questions about the DualSense Plugin for Unreal Engine.
v2.1 for Unreal Engine 5.7 and 5.8. v1 for 5.1 to 5.6 (and 5.7, if you already have a v1 project there). A single Gumroad purchase includes every package.
Not yet: the plugin is sold on Gumroad, which lets us ship updates faster. A Fab release is planned.
Yes, over USB and Bluetooth. The extra Edge buttons on the back are not exposed as separate keys yet.
No. The plugin only talks to the DualSense and the DualSense Edge.
No, Windows only. On PS5 use Sony's official tools, available to licensed developers.
No. The plugin is packaged with your game and uses the standard Windows drivers. No extra software or driver is needed.
Yes. In v2 the state of each controller is kept between calls: set only what changes and call DS Update Output. The rest stays as it was.
No. Call it after you change something. Calling it every frame is harmless (nothing is written if nothing changed) but not needed.
Yes. Force Feedback, haptic feedback and Force Feedback Effect assets with Device Properties (trigger resistance, light colour) all work. See Rumble and haptics.
Those tools can take over the controller or emulate an Xbox pad. If your game sees the controller twice, or effects don't arrive, see Troubleshooting.
