v1.3 (legacy)
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about v1 of the DualSense Plugin for Unreal Engine.
v1 only. For v2 see the v2 FAQ.
v1 reads buttons through Unreal's RawInput plugin. Make sure it is enabled and configured: see RawInput configuration.
v1 sends the whole output state on every call. Keep the last lightbar colour in a variable and send it again together with the new trigger effects, so it stays unchanged. In v2 this is not needed: each part of the state is kept separately.
Yes. For input, add a RawInput entry with the Edge product ID
0x0DF2.No. The plugin is made for the DualSense only.
No. The plugin is packaged with the game and uses the standard Windows drivers. Tools such as DS4Windows or DSX are not needed; if a player runs them, they may have to configure them for your game.
Download the boilerplate project (Unreal Engine 5.5), connect a DualSense and press Play.
If your project is on Unreal Engine 5.7 or later, yes: v2 adds native input, up to 4 controllers, 12 trigger effects and fixes the v1 limitations. Follow the migration guide.
